Many Destinations
Centering Equity in Greenway Enhancements
Since 2021, the Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership has prioritized reducing barriers for greenway use for nearby communities that have limited outdoor recreation opportunities.
After an 18-month engagement process to strengthen relationships with nearby communities that SCRGP had previously under-reached, the Partnership engaged community members in the winter and spring of 2024 to better understand barriers and potential solutions related to built improvements for the Greenway. Community members expressed strong support for activating several sections of the Greenway, rather than a single large improvement, to boost trail use and encourage exploration across cities and neighborhoods. They called the concept "Many Destinations,” which aims to inspire walking, biking, and rolling to explore these varied parts of the trail.
Design Themes: sense of safety, play and fun, family, community, nature and wildlife, comfort, seclusion, peace and relaxation, connection to community, adventure, learning, art, music, acknowledging history and stories.

“This sounds SUPER relaxing and very cool for kids and adults. I can imagine myself taking outdoor activities like bubbles, balls, chalks, and/or art activities and just let my kids go crazy and play! Then I would be in the swing relaxing with a cold drink and a book while my kids play…or make it a story time with the kids.”
