Ecological Assessment + Corridor Management Plan
In 2026, the Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership will launch an Ecological Assessment + Corridor Management Plan to guide the long-term care and improvement of the Greenway.
This effort will create a shared, multi-jurisdictional roadmap to restore and steward the 13.1-mile corridor, advancing wildlife habitat, water quality, and overall stream health as core priorities, while thoughtfully integrating safe, meaningful access for recreation and transportation.
Community voices will play a central role in shaping this plan. We’ll be working alongside Greenway users, neighbors, and partners to better understand priorities, challenges, and opportunities across the entire corridor. At the same time, collaboration with the three Greenway cities -Commerce City, Denver, and Aurora- will be essential to developing a coordinated and effective restoration strategy. Greenway Eco Tour Series 🦅🌳🦋
The Greenway Eco Tour Series brings the science and stewardship behind the Sand Creek Ecological Assessment + Corridor Management Plan to life. Through guided walks, family-friendly activities, and programs led by local experts, you’ll discover the plants, wildlife, waterways, and habitats that make the Greenway a vital urban natural space.
Each tour offers a closer look at the Greenway’s ecological conditions and the opportunities we have to care for them. What you learn can help you bring informed ideas to future conversations (planned for October and November 2026 - stay tuned for more details!) about restoration priorities and the Greenway’s long-term health.
The series includes both new events and some familiar SCRGP programs. Look for the green Eco Tour Series stamp to find participating events - and join us outside!
These tours are open to everyone. No commitment to participate in the assessment or planning process is required.

Participation Stipends
SCRGP’s stipend program is intended to reduce financial barriers to participation, particularly for people from historically marginalized communities and others for whom compensation helps make participation possible.
A limited number of stipends will be available for each event related to the Ecological Assessment + Corridor Management Plan project as funding allows. Participants may choose whether to request one.

Community Input
At the September 2026 Strategic Plan Community Gathering, community members shared what they expect to see in a healthy Greenway. While every option - diverse wildlife, healthy and varied plant communities, clean water, thriving creek and wetland areas, and connected wildlife habitat - is essential to the health of the Greenway and creek corridor, this input helps us understand community priorities and begin shaping a plan for restoration.
